Packing

It has ice, two turkey and cheese sandwiches, two water bottles, an apple, and a bag of grapes. Will gets two beach chairs from the closet. Melissa folds a blue and white beach blanket and puts it in her bag.

Will gets dressed. He wears shorts and a short-sleeve shirt. The beach is sandy, so Will doesn’t want shoes. His sandals are great for the beach. They are comfortable and easy to clean. Melissa starts packing things for the baby. Luca will need diapers and wipes. He loves playing on his blanket. Melissa also finds some toys for him. Most importantly, she packs sunscreen for the whole family.

To the beach

The family gets in the car. They drive 40 minutes to the beach. The sun is out, but the sky is hazy. There are not many people at the beach. Will and Melissa get out of the car. First, they lay their blanket down on the sand. Melissa puts Luca in the middle of the blanket.

Luca rolls around and looks up at Will. Will picks him up and holds him. He dips Luca’s feet in the sand. Luca giggles. He loves the sand. It’s so fun to bring Luca to the beach!

Will wants to swim. So, he asks Melissa to hold the baby. She takes Luca. Will walks down to the water. He gets into the cold water. The waves are strong. Will goes swimming for a while.

Melissa feeds Luca. Luca eats a lot. When he stops eating, his eyes look tired. After Will swims, he goes back to the blanket. Melissa is holding baby Luca. He is sleeping. Melissa and Will get their lunch out of the cooler. They eat their sandwiches and drink water.

Making Memories

The family stays at the beach for two hours. The sun begins to set. Will wants a picture of his family at the beach. A man is walking along the shore. Melissa asks him if he will take a picture of her family. He says, “Sure!”
