When comparing the time that two past events happened, the Past Perfect is used to indicate which event happened before.
- When Mr. Nguyen came to the United Stated, he had already lived in five different countries.
- Judy had spent an hour and a half waiting in line by the time the tech store ran out of new tablets.
- Had you met Jamie before last night? When I introduced you two, she looked like she recognized you already.
